Dental Emergency
Urgent Dental Care
Dental emergencies can happen when you least expect them and acting quickly makes all the difference. Whether you’re dealing with intense pain, trauma to your teeth or jaw, or a lost crown or filling, the team at Nest Dental Clinic is here to provide swift, compassionate care when you need it most.
Common dental emergencies include severe toothaches, chipped or knocked-out teeth, swelling in the face or gums, infections or abscesses, and bleeding following a dental procedure or injury. If you’re unsure whether your issue counts as an emergency, give us a call—we’re happy to advise you.
What to Do Before You Get to Us
If you’re experiencing severe pain or swelling, apply a cold compress and take over-the-counter pain medication, such as ibuprofen. Stay upright and avoid lying flat. If a tooth has been knocked out, handle it by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently, and try placing it back in the socket. If that’s not possible, store it in milk or saliva and contact us immediately—time matters.
For a broken or chipped tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water and save any pieces you can. If you’ve lost a crown or filling, keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side. Temporary dental cement from the pharmacy can help protect the exposed area until we can repair it.
When to Go to the Emergency Room
In some cases, hospital care may be necessary. Please go directly to the nearest ER if you experience:
• Uncontrolled bleeding
• A suspected jaw fracture
• Swelling that affects breathing or swallowing
